Is psychiatric medication right for you?

Medications can also be very useful for some people & unnecessary for others. For many, meds bring clarity, focus, and a wider range of emotional experiences. When we prescribe meds, it's always within the context of a broader, holistic approach to wellness. If you think medications may be helpful for you, we'll talk about the advantages & disadvantages, alternatives that you may be considering, and plans for keeping perspective about the role of meds in your personal goals. Medications are not a quick fix. We offer an integrative approach to medication and wellness that is evidence-based. Morgan will provide brief, solution-focused therapy and behavioral strategies like sleep hygiene, developing a routine, and goal setting. If your therapeutic needs are greater than can be provided she will offer a referral to an appropriate therapist.

There are many different types of psychiatric medications that are prescribed for many different purposes. Many people will not need to stay on psychiatric medication for the rest of their lives. Some conditions are expected to last a lifetime while others are not. The brain is not static and we will continually re-evaluate how you are healing and how the medications are affecting you.

In an outpatient setting, we cannot safely and adequately treat those with significant addiction issues or severe and persistent mental illness. We will provide referrals to appropriate services for those that need a higher or a different level of care than we can offer.

“Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that we are not alone.”
